Book Review: Court of Fives

We’re back again with another book to review. This one is part of a three-book series with one side book (novella), A Court of Fives, Poisoned Blade, and Buried Heart (Novella is not currently out yet.). This book by Kate Elliott is an action-packed novel. Jessamy the main character and young teenage girl wishes that she could run the fives. An obstacle course maze that competitors race to the finish through a series of obstacles like rings, traps, and trees. The only problem was her father. General Esladas, a “high-born” patron man who is constantly working in the war to try and help provide for his family and the only thing standing between Jessamy and the court of fives, when Jessamy tries to run in the fives and is discovered in an unlikely meeting, she has torn away from her now broken family to run in what she has wanted all her life. The fives. However, life is not as she expected it to be when she meets unexpected friends and enemies. Torn between family and the thing that she loves Jessamy must save them all from a plot that can lead to an all-out war.
