Mr. CLC Inside Scoop with MC Emily Peschke
April 13, 2022
- For students who aren’t familiar with Mr. CLC, could you give us a brief overview of what the program entails?
Mr. CLC is an annual tradition here at Central where several guys show off personal talents, sick dance moves, and their best pick-up lines in an effort to win the hearts of the audience and the title of Mr. CLC!
- Do you have a favorite act or session during the program?
I’m always curious to see what the guys decide to show the audience as a personal talent. It really clues you into who they are as people and what they’re good at. It makes me happy to see people doing things that they’re passionate about.
- How does hosting Mr. CLC differ from your other involvements in theater or improv?
I have hosted a talent show in the past, so some may call me an expert. I hosted the fifth grade talent show when I lacked the talent to be in the talent show myself, so they gave me the pity role of the host. It was the highest moment of my career.
It differs from theater and improv since it’s all spelled out for you; you don’t have much freedom like in improv, where you’re there to get a laugh [out of the audience]. There are a few more rules [to hosting], but it’s a great opportunity for the audience and to practice how a show develops and keeps moving.
- Finally, what are you most looking forward to as host of Mr. CLC?
I’m hoping to go into some sort of speech career when I’m older. Getting any opportunity to practice being on stage in front of an audience is a great way to connect with others. I’m very excited to see what the contestants bring [to Mr. CLC]. I’ve never hosted Mr. CLC before, but I’ve seen the shows, so I’m excited to meet the contestants and see what they bring to the show.”
