Book Review: Looking For Alaska

November 29, 2022
Looking for Alaska is a great coming-of-age book for teens! The novel by John Green follows a group of teens that go to a boarding school called Culver Creek Academy. The group has to tackle many obstacles including silly pranks, social classes, and a love story. The main character, Miles Halter’s story is divided into before and after events that would change his life forever. The themes that this novel touch on include grief, hope, and teenage romance. Not to mention, there is also an eight episode series on Hulu to accompany the novel.
My comments about this book are only positive thoughts because I absolutely loved this book. It portrayed the emotions of a teenager very well. The book shows the multiple mental struggles that young adults battle while going through high school. I also enjoyed how the chapters were from before and after the traumatic event that occurred; it kept turning the page.
I would recommend this book if you enjoyed reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, Turtles All the Way Down by John Green, and Ordinary People by Judith Guest. I truly enjoyed this read and hope you will too!
