The time has finally come, hockey fans! Our beloved Blackhawks are back on the ice and hopefully better than ever, so it’s time to scream at our TV screens and sing along to Chelsea Dagger. A new season for our favorite Chicago team means new players, new fans, and if we’re lucky, another Stanley Cup win. So the question is, how well will the Blackhawks do this season, and what do we have that helps throw us in front of other teams? Junior Sarah Castle responded with, “I think as a team we have the right support from all the team members. They have both veterans like Marian Hossa and newcomers like Trevor Van Riemsdyk. Thankfully, through analytics, the Blackhawks have the best chances of winning the cup, 13/2. To answer the question, I do believe we have a great team and will have a great chance of winning the cup.”

Now with a record of 5-3 after their win against the Ottawa Senators Sunday night, they are off to a pretty decent start. Throughout the upcoming months, we can only hope that top players such as our captain, Jonathan Toews, Patrick Sharp, and Patrick Kane can all increase their statistics, just as they have in the past few years. If their numbers keep climbing, the team should have nothing to worry about. As for goalie, Corey Crawford, unfortunately out on injury at the moment, possesses a 95-7 record of blocked shots to those that slipped through his fingers. A new goalie’s talent has also shined through the cracks after stepping in for Raanta. Scott Darling, after his first Blackhawk win on Sunday, has surely proved his belonging to the team.

With odds on favorite to win the Stanley Cup, our beloved returning players, and the talented rookies, we can only expect the best from the Chicago Blackhawks this season. So start your superstitious sports rituals, get out your Hawks gear and enjoy 70+ games left till playoffs!
