Piles of Smiles

Paulina Maczuga, Staff Writer

Mowing the lawn? Not my favorite… Pulling out the weeds? No thanks. Raking leaves? Yeah, I’m all for it! Outdoor work may not seem like the most appealing thing to do, but volunteering certainly is a fulfilling deed (or in this case, it’s quite fall-filling).
Every year, the Crystal Lake Central National Honors Society lends a hand (and a rake) to those with yards full of leaves. Any elderly citizens in need are encouraged to call (815-459-2505) or email the NHS board leader at [email protected] about lawn assistance. Throughout the season of autumn, groups of CLC students will spend their time giving back to the community. Leaf raking is not limited to only NHS members; the more the merrier! Feel free to contact any friends associated with NHS about helping out.  It’s that time of the year to be thankful, and what  better way than seizing the opportunity of service.
